Thrive to Five

Thrive to Five is locally owned and operated and we love being a part of the local community.

We also operate on the Kapiti Coast, Horowhenua and Manawatu. We value the importance of community connections and knowing our locals and have staff that live in these area’s.

Many of us are parents ourselves, so we understand the need to know that your child will be well taken care of. This is part of the reason we keep things small – to make sure our services are always high quality. With 1:4 ratios and small group environments, we can give your child the attention they need and deserve.

All of our team are nurturing, engaged and committed to ensuring the best outcomes for young children and their families.

In 2021, we merged Thrive to Five with our Home-based Educator’s company, Little Monkeys at Home.

We refer to our two companies as;

Our Difference

Our team have vast experience across various ECE settings including community, childcare centres, kindergartens and the home based sector.

So why home based nannies and educator’s? After seeing an expansion of centre based models come into the early childhood sector, we wanted to offer an alternative for families; a locally owned and operated service with a focus on key relationships and secure attachments; creating a sense of belonging for all involved and where families could feel confident that their children were in good hands, with low ratios, in environments that would allow them to thrive.

Our Philosophy

We believe that children are the heart of our future. By nurturing their unique strengths and guiding them with care, we empower them to grow into confident, capable individuals. We recognise the individuality and potential each child carries within and strive to create an environment where they feel proud of who they are and excited about who they are becoming.

We believe in a child-led, holistic approach where tamariki learn at their own pace in an environment that fosters belonging and builds confident, lifelong learners. Our play-focused spaces are enriched with sustainable, natural and thoughtful resources that inspire curiosity and discovery. Educators are nurturing role models who lead with integrity and respect, creating positive relationships with children, Whānau, and each other. Through strong, reciprocal connections, we welcome Whānau as valued partners in their child’s learning journey.

“Tā te tamariki tāna mahi wāwāhi tahā”

This whakataukī (proverb) serves as a reminder to families that children are naturally inclined to explore and challenge boundaries, and that it is the responsibility of caregivers to guide them, not to punish them for their mistakes

Our Educator’s

Educator’s care for children in their own homes and have a maximum of four children at any one time, lovely small groups with the benefit of socialising with other pre-schoolers.

Little Monkeys at Home was born in 2017. Our vision was to establish a small, boutique, company that offered an abundance of support to our Educators. This would be through home visits, playgroups, trips, workshops, resources and gifts of appreciation. We knew that in our teaching practices, we didn’t want to get lost in technology, plastic toys and the latest crazes on the market for our precious pre-schoolers in care. We understand that all children are on a unique journey and that as a family, you have high hopes for their learning and development, we too have high hopes for your precious children. The ongoing support we offer ensures that we guide our Educators in fostering an environment that supports your families aspirations for your children. Our Educators are never walking alone and our visiting Kaiako maintains a high level of support.
