About Thrive to Five

Our Difference

Founder of Thrive to Five, Sloany, is a registered early childhood teacher and a mum of three children. She has over 16 years experience working with under 5’s across various ECE settings including community, centre based, kindergartens and the home based sector.

So why home based care?  After seeing an expansion of centre based models come into the early childhood sector, Sloany wanted to offer an alternative; a locally owned and operated home based service with a focus on key relationships and secure attachments; creating a sense of belonging for all involved and where families could feel confident that their children were in good hands, with low ratios, in environments that would allow them to thrive.

Our Philosophy

We believe early childhood experiences have a profound influence on ongoing development, therefore it is vital that these experiences are positive.

Children thrive in an environment where they feel secure in their sense of belonging.

Children learn to value who they are and what they can do through warm, caring, responsive, reciprocal and nurturing relationships.

Through encouragement and building self worth, our tamariki are empowered to embrace challenge; seeing themselves as capable results in their willingness to extend themselves and explore new opportunities.

In the importance of relationships that are supported through open communication between tamariki, families/whānau, caregivers and teachers.

A family that is well supported is a family that will thrive.

What people are saying about us

“Sloany really connects with children at their level and has a wealth of knowledge and practical ideas to inspire play and continued growth.  She has a genuine passion for Early Childcare which shows with her interactions with the carers and children alike. I really appreciated Sloany’s calm and practical approach to childcare and benefited hugely from her support.”

Teresa (Waikanae)

“I had the privilege of working alongside Sloany for a couple of years. Sloany was always there to support me in my role, encourage me to improve from an education perspective, provide resources and make sure I was always on track. She was always very easy to talk to and helped me become a better nanny. Sloany is professional in her roles and always strives for the best. She is kind, supportive and I really enjoyed having her as my visiting teacher.”
